Sport

At St. Mary & St Andrew’s we find sport to be one of the most rewarding subjects outside of the classroom, children can learn vital team working skills whilst playing sports with a team. They learn fantastic communication skills too when they participate in team discussions.

We work closely with both the Preston School Games Organiser and Team Theme, who provide coaching to our school when needed to assist our teachers in learning the ins and outs of all sports. The coaches are well versed in all sport and can teach with incredible knowledge.

Both partnerships also offer a multitude of competitions across the year in various sports which our children are also delighted to attend and compete at when a team can be assembled. We have had fantastic success throughout the years at different events, from cross country to swimming galas.

Keep your eyes peeled throughout the year on our blog and newsletters for any upcoming sporting events.

We participate in the School Games Mark, which rewards schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community. In the academic year 2018-2019 we achieved the Silver Mark. There has been a pause in delivering the School Games Mark during the 2019-2020 academic year due to COVID-19. For the academic year 2020-2021, the School Games Mark Framework will be positioned as a self-review tool allowing us to reflect on our involvement in the school games in light of the country’s ongoing plight with COVID-19.
